Surprise visit home.

This weekend I surprised my family by coming home. It was wonderful! I left GF on Thursday afternoon and my plane landed in the buckeye state before 11pm that evening. Kendra, one of my best friends, picked me up. I spent Thursday night at her house and then headed to my Mom’s work to surprise her. My mom works for Job and Family Services (AKA the welfare office). Recently the building was “upgraded” and what once was a nice little office is now a tight security prison! The new layout was designed after mouse maze. Seriously, I don’t know what else it could be replicating. To get in the building we had to be buzzed in and to get out my mom had to scan her hand. I thought for a minute that I was in the pentagon. There are freaks out there don’t get me wrong. But I don’t think that buzzing people in and keeping them in a maze will keep them out. Just a thought… Anyway, back to my reunion with my Mom. Everyone in her office ended up getting in on the scoop. (Mom said that she thought something was up when no one wanted her to leave for lunch.) Kendra and I arrived there around 12:30 and were “buzzed” back. I ended up meeting Mom in the hallway along with about 30 other people (okay maybe 10). It was really great. I couldn’t have planned it better. We hugged and cried then hugged again. You don’t realize how much you miss your Mom until you see her after a year apart. For lunch we headed to Captain D’s (at my request). The sweet tea is still sweet!

After lunch Mom needed to get a few things from the store so Kendra and I headed to Grandma Betty’s to see Ethan and Evan M. (Ev was the ring bearer at our wedding.) Ethan gave me a classic 8th grader “hi” but Evan was absolutely tickled to death. After a little visiting Ken and I headed back to Mom’s where the surprising continued. My family reunion was this weekend (One of the reasons I wanted to go home.) and no one in my family knew that I was coming home. Every year our reunion is on the 3rd Sunday of August and the Saturday before people meet at our farm for a pre-reunion party. This year some family members showed up even earlier. Some made their way to the farm on Friday others came on Saturday.

Friday night was filled with drama. My brothers Eric and Travis (both 19) were attacked on the side of the road by a crazed 35 year old. (Eric is my real brother. Travis is his best friend who has become my other brother.) Eric ended up in ER on Friday night and was diagnosed with a severe concussion. I could write a lot more about the event but I am going to skip over it. The story is summed up best with this sentence: Freak man (35) with road rage attacks young adults (19) on their way to a truck pull. The most important thing is that Bub and Trav are okay.
My last few hours home I was able to see my cousins Jeff and Jayne, Nana Hudson, Mother in law Karen, Uncle Russ and a few friends. My trip was jam packed and I am extremely greatful for every minute of it. The weekend was filled with tears, hugs, FOOD, laughs, horse rides, dog licks, fireworks, water slides and lots of love.

This is my horse Texas and my borther's horse Louie.

My cousin Lilly and Skittles are looking for mice.

Lilly is a cowgirl, riding good ole Lou.

Kaylie, Lilly's sister, is the Dog Whispher in the family.

Mom, Me, Eric and Travis

The whole crew.

Oh so much fun. I'm so glad you got to go home; that is awesome. Mom's are the best things ever.

Did the whole (extended) family already know you are pregnant or did you get to tell them?

Neat pictures. Looks like I would have more fun at your house than at the zoo. :) Maybe one day I will actually get to ride a horse.

Hope school goes good. Talk to you soon,
