Wilson Vaught Smith

I'll post one more time while Jamie catches up on some sleep. Wilson Vaught is asleep next to me with the muts keeping an eye on him. He likes to lay with his arms free and looks like he's doing the American Crawl as he sleeps.

He has a pretty strong neck. He practically holds his head up on his own already. His most identifiable features from his parents so far are definitely his toes. He has Jamie's big toe and the rest are my finger like toes.

He likes me to wrap my hand around his torso so that he can lean forward. He wraps his arms and legs around my hand like a little monkey. He already has the smith wrinkles in his forehead when he's thinking. When he's awake, he likes to look around a lot. He moves his eyes slowly, like he's really trying to focus in on everything. His eyes are a very dark blue right now (just like most babies I guess). He has quick reactions to sounds and light. When a door shuts or the camera light flashes he gets all stirred up. Although, so far he doesn't seem to care when Buckeye barks. We're learning more and more about this guy every minute.

Jamie is figuring out the breast feeding thing. He's a pretty aggressive little guy. All of the lactation nurses couldn't believe how hard he could bite down. I'm finally over my issues with seeing breastfeeding. After watching the extreme unrated version of the birth, I don't think I have a reticent bone left in my body in relation to this stuff. I guess I'm officially broken.

The name Wilson comes from Lonnie Wilson Burger (Jamie's Grandfather), Vaught after Christopher Vaught Smith (me), (my dad) Gregory Vaught Smith, (my grandfather) "Doc" Vaught Smith, and supposedly 4 or 5 other Vaughts before that... We're already calling him Will, I love the name, but I admit, it's tough not to start singing Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool And all shootin some b-ball outside of the school When a couple of guys Who were up to no good Startin makin trouble in my neighborhood... but I'll get over it.

To everyone that thinks he looks like me right now, I'll let you know I think he looks like a pale Yoda from Star Wars... I don't know what to think about that.

We miss you all and can't wait to introduce you to little Will. We hope he picks up some different lessons and traits from all of you as his blood and extended family. Thanks again for all of the calls. Here are a few more pictures
