Only me!

I have debated for some time on the title of this blog. Here are some of the titles I was considering- You learn something everyday, damn wind, Smitty's believe it or not and only me. But, before I get in to the story behind the title let me give you a quick update:
Saturday- Nana Babe and Pops headed back to Ohio.

Three generations of Vaught men. (Pops, Will and Chris)

Sunday- Papa John (my dad) arrived

Dad is here for a month and plans on helping us finish the basement. That is right folks I said FINISH the basement!! I don't know what we will do with ourselves when the basement is done. We will have our weekends back and Wilson will be in his room. Can I hear a hell yeah?!! It is going to be wonderful!!
Here is the current basement status- People are coming this Thursday to mud, tape and texture the walls and ceiling and plan on being done by next Tuesday. This weekend Chris and Dad are going to hang insulation and drywall in the garage. After that we are heading back to the basement- hanging cabinets, then painting, then flooring and finally...trim work!!

Now, on to the story behind the title dilemma. (I know you are all dieing to hear.)Okay, so this past weekend I finished up all my thank you cards. About 40 in total. Since I wrapped them up on Sunday evening I thought the best thing to do would be to go ahead and place them in the mailbox. I had been working on them since we got home from the hospital and knowing that they were in the mailbox, ready to be picked up, gave me a wonderful sense of accomplishment. Anyway, Monday I had a hair appointment and as I was driving past the mail box I noticed that the box was open. Hm? I stopped the car and investigated. The flag was still up and all but one of my letters were gone. You have got to be kidding me!!! What happened you wonder??? THE FREAKING WIND!! I looked down the block and noticed that our box was not the only one flapping in the wind. I knew that the wind had kicked up. But seriously- blowing my mailbox open and all my thank you notes out!! Come on...what are the chances of that happening? A real believable story don't you think? I can see it now- Yeah, I sent you a thank you, but it got blown out of my mailbox and was lost.
I know what you are thinking... are you sure they got blown away? Well, I asked the post woman (when she delivered a package later that day) if she had picked up mail earlier in the day and she say NO!! I walked the dogs up and down the street- no letters. I can't believe it!! I hope that people saw them and stuck them in the mail! Who in the world does this happen to? ME!! Only me!
Now I have to go buy more thank you cards and stamps... Just when I thought I had life under control. Moral of the story- remember to laugh and never place valuables in our mail box because it is in the middle of a wind tunnel...

*If any of you get thank you cards from us in the near future please tell me.

I know it sucks but it is actually quite funny. Thanks for the laugh.

I seem to remeber people telling me when we lived there that Great Falls is windier than the windy city of Chicago. I know it can be true. It does make for memorable moment. Thinking of you often.

I don't think you should use "damn wind" because it sounds like farting! I like the "Only Me" one!

That is so weird about the thank you notes. I would be PISSED!
