Don't be surprised if you hear a little Espanol when you call my house; because the last 2 times a telemarketer has called, I answered saying hola and they LEFT ME ALONE! They asked if anyone speaks English and I say no, in my best accent, and they hang up. Genius!!
It may not work in TX, FL or CA but it is worth a try.

Too funny. Fortunately, the only odd calls I get here are in German, so they really must leave me alone.
