A Lot Going on

My goodness, are we over due for an update or what?! Okay, I’ll start with Wilson… It was NOT just his teeth. This past weekend he seemed to be getting worse and on Sunday I noticed what I thought was thrush in his mouth. Knowing that Wilson isn’t nursing nor on antibiotics, I should have known it wasn’t thrush, but I thought for sure it was. I was wrong! Wilson has gingivostomatitis, which is caused by the same virus you get cold sores from. The little guy has blisters all over his mouth: the roof of his mouth, his gums, and his tongue. He has hardly eaten for over a week and, as a result, has lost over 2 pounds. Thankfully though, he is drinking. He is on Tylenol with codeine to manage his pain. The little guy has just been MISERABLE…
Don't worry though, there is good news- I think that he is on the up side. Tonight, for the first time since April 30th, HE ATE HIS DINNER!!! Hot dogs and yogurt! Yum!

Our visit with Chris’ family was great. Hopefully, they are getting caught up on sleep from all the sleepless nights (spent listening to Wilson cry) and early mornings.I didn’t get to spend as much time as I would have liked with everyone, because I was busy with school and clinic, but the time I did spend with everyone was good. Here are some of the highlights from the trip: we went to our favorite restaurants (Luigi’s and Clinks), participated in the 32 annual Bloomsday race, and explored: downtown, Coeur d'alene, Riverside State Park, and our back yard. Alana (our niece) and Adam (our nephew) are so sweet. Alana is one smart little cookie. I often forget that she is only three because she can carry on a conversation like a 7 year old. Adam is such a happy baby, with a smile that brightens any room. They are really wonderful kids.

Bloomsday was the big event for everyone. I ran while Babe, Pops, Wilson, Kell, Alana and Adam walked (the kids were in strollers). The race itself was really fun. It was definitely a community event. People stood outside their houses cheering everyone on. There was a variety of musicians throughout the run too that kept you entertained.

Even though I hadn’t had much time to train for the 7.5 mile run, I was still determined to do it. (Hey, if you say you’re going to do something- you DO IT!)
I finished in 1 hour and 29 minutes. (Kara- my friend who raced with me finished in 1:10) I am pleased with my time, especially since there were 42,000 people surrounding me and I had to stop for a bathroom break (which took 5 minutes because all the people in line). I did take 2 walk breaks but other than that, I kept a good pace. I couldn't walk later that night and my knee was so sore on Monday that I thought I would need to go to the doctor. But… I am better now and ready to run again. That was the farthest I have ever ran. It motivated me to want to run more. Especially, since I didn't die from running out of shape. Just imagine if I was in shape.

School is CRAZY!! I have so much paperwork to do I am about to scream. Plus, our finals are next week!!! ONLY 2 MORE TERMS LEFT OF CLASS WORK (summer and fall)!!

The million dollar dog- AKA Jake- has a yeast infection in his ear and is on medication. The infection was so bad that the vet put him under to clean it. He said (the vet) that he thinks we caught it in time. (whatever that means?)

Chris is busy with work. He is finished working on the BC project and now working on a project in Yuma, AZ. He is going to be traveling to Yuma next week for a “site visit”. The following week he is heading to Omaha, NE for training.

Alright, that is enough for now. I must finish a project and start working on a paper. The week is rapidly approaching it's end. AH! Where does the time go?

** I'll post pictures from the Smith crew visit when I get some. Believe it or not, I didn't take any pictures. I guess I relied on Kell and Babe to take them. I know they have some good ones, so be on the look out.

Wow! That was a jammed packed post. You definitely have had a lot going on. Sucks about Wilson and his mouth. Yuck. Hopefully he's on the mend.

Way to go on the race. 7.5 miles is a long ways, in shape or not. I'm proud of you.

And Chena may not be quite the million dollar dog that Jake is, but I feel your pain. I took her to the vet today for what I thought was a rotten tooth but instead it is broken and halfway sheared off so she needs it removed. $450 to pull a freakin' tooth. Are you kidding me?!?

Anyhoo - take some deep breaths, get your stuff done, and call if you ever get a chance. I miss you.

Good for you for running! You look great and very in shape!

Pooooor Wilson! How awful to have sores in your mouth. I have never heard of that before! I hope he is over it ASAP.

Canyon ALWAYS had yeast in her ears. "Chronic yeast infection" according to the vets. It never seemed to bother her, though any form of cleaning really pissed her off! Poor Jakey!

WOW! Busy, busy, busy. It seems like that is the story of your life Jame. I remember when we would hang out at the fair and if I wanted to spend time with you, I had to help you with the horse chores, no play all work!!! I do not know what you would do if you had a moment to breath, go insane maybe....

GREAT JOB on the RUN!!!! That is 7 more miles than I could do right now!

Can't wait to see you and the family, I know I keep saying this, but we really want to get out to see you this summer/fall. Let me know if you have any breaks in school.

Lola- Damn. That is a lot for a tooth.

Kates- I am thinking about you and your little one! Thanks for your comments. I am NOT in shape but sure glad I look it! ;)

Kari- Come on out!!! And anyone else for that matter! We have plenty of room and love having guests. I am off from July 26-Aug 24.

I also am off next week, for a week. But hopefully you will have a baby in your arms by then.

We would like to have a little vaca sometime this summer but no plans as of yet.

You poor thing! How in the heck did you survive all of that? You must have sleep deprivation going on. I hope you find yourself getting caught up with everything...especially rest!

Congrats on the run! I keep saying I'm going to take up running so I can do 5K's, at least, with my DH. Then, I make the excuse that running may not be good for my torn ACL/chronic knee pain. Then, Matt's best friend runs a marathon with a torn ACL and I feel like an out of shape, complaining cow.

You look like you're in killer shape despite what you say!
