The past couple days-- the short version.

AHHHHH!!!

Let me begin by catching you up:
I have been experiencing numbness in my limbs for a while now. I never really paid much attention to it until a couple months ago when my left tricep started to tingle. Then, my left thigh. I thought that is was most likely a pinched nerve since it was on one side. However, my symptoms didn't stay isolated to one side. My right side also went numb, as well as my face. For those wondering what I mean by numb: you know how your arm or hand feels when you cut off the circulation? Well, that is pretty much it. With some extra tingles. Sometimes it feels really cold. Not to touch, but internally. I was due a physical, so I decided to scheduled an appointment. My appointment ruled out cervical problems, which was concerning to the doctor and me. I have been exercising, stretching, and bought a new bed. Hoping to eliminate my symptoms. No luck. They aren't as consistent as they were but they are still present. My doctor, and I, were concerned that it might be multiple sclerosis (MS). So, she ordered a brain MRI. I have had two MRIs. One a week and a half ago without contrast material. It was good, but the doctor wanted to get a deeper look at my corpus callosum (a common place for lesions to begin with MS).
Wednesday, I had the one with contrast material. It, also, came back good. No lesions or plaques. That is a really good sign that it is not MS! I have been referred to a neurologist for a nerve conduction study, but the soonest I can get in is NOV 4th!! I may get in sooner because I'm on the cancellation list... We'll see.

So, yesterday started off nerve racking and ended with a sigh of relief. In fact, yesterday was wonderful! We had a roll and stroll with the residents at my practicum and I was able to spend some quality time with one of my favorite patients.

Today, my day started off by finding out that my favorite patient (who I mentioned above) had just passed away and ended with a BANG... She had congestive heart failure, which at the time, we didn't know. Looking back on it, it explains some of her symptoms.

She was a wonderful woman. She lived 94 fantastic years and until two weeks ago had been living independently. I was very fortunate to have worked with her. It was a sad and happy morning for the whole facility. She touched us all. Now she is with her sweetie (the name she used to describe her husband).

So that was my morning.

This afternoon, after an exam and class, I backed into a car IN THE PARKING LOT of school! BANG!! I had 500 things on my mind and it was the only car in meter parking behind me. THE ONLY CAR! I didn't even see it. I just backed right up. My car is fine. The other car, is not. I hit the bumper and just above the bumper.

I am SICK about this. I stayed at school for over an hour waiting for the person to come to the car. Unfortunately, they not only have a banged up car they also have a ticket (meter went out). I left a note but have not heard from anyone. I also took pictures to document the damage. I feel like such an ass and am so upset with myself over this.

Okay, so that is my week. Well, the last two days. Roller coaster. Hope you are doing well.

That sounds like a lot of suckiness, with a bit of good thrown in there.

Keep me updated on your health, please.

Man it sounds like you need a hug! :( Maybe a shoulder and a box of tissues just in case? I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that...especially in one day! I'll be keeping you in my prayers and I'm so glad your tests came back okay so far!

I'm glad your tests came back negative. We had no idea you were feeling so bad. I know that kind of thing is scary. Top it off with the extras and it sounds like a rough day! Take care.

Well, I hope you find out what is going on soon! How stressful. Good that you've ruled out MS.

I'll be looking forward to reading any updates. Take care.

Poor Jamie! This all sounds totally sh!tastic. I am so sorry you are dealing with health scares. I am glad your scans came back good. I hope they can figure out what is going on, and that it is minor.

My mom had something simliar happen in both her arms at the same time and they couldn't ever find ANYTHING wrong with her. So weird!

Man. What a day! That's weird and scary about your numbness but great that the MRI's didn't show anything abnormal. Hopefully they find out soon what is causing it so you can quit worrying over it.

And the whole car thing - that is totally something I would do. In the past couple of years I have backed into a tree while being the DD (so much for being sober), and backed out of my garage into a carpet truck parked in my driveway. So, you're in good company with feeling like an ass. Been there, done that.
