August 6-7 2008

We have had such a great month of August that I have decided the best way to recap is by posting about certain days rather than one mega post:
My mom made her way out west on my birthday. It was a wonderful present to me. I am so thankful to have had her here and to show her our house and have her see Wilson in his daily routines (romping with Buck, driving his rocket, napping, bath time, etc.).
Her time here was short but we made the best of it even though I was sick. On the 6th, her birthday, we went to Manito Park in the morning, then after a nap went to Chris' and my favorite restaurant for dinner, Clinks. After dinner we walked around the riverfront park. Wilson, mom, and I rode the carousel for the first time and then we walk to the river to check out the ducks.
Holding on for life on the fastest carousel I have ever been on
.
The last picture is my favorite. W was making duck sounds. I think the ducks were W's favorite.
The next day we hiked to the river to let the boys swim. My mom swears I was trying to kill her, but I swear I wasn't. The hike there was completely down hill. So can you guess how the hike back went? Yeap. Uphill. Every inch. In 95 degree heat. Now that is love.

After the boys had a good swim we crawled our way back to the car and headed home for lunch. After lunch we all took long naps. After we woke, I felt terrible-- No voice. Coughing like it was going out of style. Crap running down the back of my throat. Terrible! My mom, bless her sweet heart, knew I needed a good home cooked meal. She fixed meatloaf, her famous mashed potatoes, and broccoli. It was delicious! (In fact, we had left overs and I planned on eating them yesterday. So, as soon as we got home I pulled them out of the freezer to thaw. But... I didn't get to enjoy the meatloaf. I set it on the counter to thaw while I went to the grocery store and the rest is history.... Thank you Jake and Buckeye. I guess you didn't like the "Pet Hotel" after all. )
The next day my mom, Wilson and I set off for Ohio. Our flight was in the afternoon so we cleaned the house (my mom knows how much I hate leaving a dirty house) and took the boys to the Pet Hotel. On the way there I got a speeding ticket for going 5 miles over! $113.oo. Can you believe it?! As if the bill for kenneling the dogs wasn't going to be enough...
Our flights went well. We arrived in Ohio late that night and stayed at my Uncle Barb's...
Next post- August 9.

Oh, those pictures are great. Good that your mom could take care of you when you were sick.

That stinks that you got sick before your trip! Did you get over it quick?

Can't wait to see the rest!
