Well, How Are You?

I am fine.

Thanks for asking.

Here's the long and short of what's been happening with us:

Today, I found out I PASSED the Praxis exam which is a huge relief. I was a little worried because I didn't study much at all. In fact, I was sick on the day of the test and even thought about canceling it! Whew!! Now I can mark one more thing of my list of to do's.

Last week I was busy with research. I spent 7 days collecting data (conversation samples from 2 women in the advanced stage of Alzheimer's dementia (AD)). I haven't analyzed my data yet, so I don't know the outcomes of the research. Regardless I think we (me and the women) enjoyed our time together. I made a blanket with one woman and we worked on jigsaw puzzles with the other. I was looking a personally relevant stimulus. My hypothesis was that the communication and participation of the individuals with AD would increase when personally relevant things were present. I hope to get everything analyzed by next Tuesday and defend no later than the beginning of March.

Sunday Wilson got a stomach bug. I will spare the details but let's just say he went threw a lot of diapers. To be safe, I stayed home with him on Monday. He seems to be over it (fingers crossed), but has now acquired a cough. Apparently there is a ton going around right now. We'll see if I take him to daycare tomorrow. Mary wasn't really happy about how much he was coughing and reminded me that he can't come with a persistent cough. We'll see how that goes...

We have decided to live in Washington instead of British Columbia. I have been looking at jobs and it looks like getting a work visa, for me, will be extremely difficult. I spoke with one woman (via email) and she said the process could take up to a year. With that being said, we are going to live near Blaine, WA. (It is about 6 south miles of the Canadian boarder.) I am looking at work in the Bellingham area. It is about 20-30 miles south from where we hope to live.

We thought we had a house lined up but it didn't work out. We are still on the hunt. The good news is we have a wonderful woman trying to help find us a house.

As far as the house in Spokane goes: It is really coming together. Last night our agent came by to take photos for our flyer's and the virtual tour. I have a few things to do (paint Wilson's bath ceiling, total up reciepts, and have some junk hauled away), but the "plan" is to be on the market this Friday. (I know I said that before. We're doing our best.) We think that the long weekend might be an ideal time to list. Maybe we will even have some showings. Who knows? I love this house, and I am sure someone else will love it too.

Now it is your turn.

Really!... How are you?

Don't be shy.

Good to hear from you! I'm so excited that you passed the Praxis. It feels good, doesn't it. You research sounds interesting, seriously I mean that. School is overwhelmingly busy. My classes this semester aren't structured very well so we have no real due dates until the week before, or even days before. That's definitely frustrating. Other than that I feel like we are living at the Dr's office for one thing or another. I'm coming up to Spokane on Friday with the high school basketball team. If you have time give me a call. Mom will be here March 8-20 so we need to catch up. I'm glad for you that you are getting things ready to move but I'm a little sad cause it means you won't be so close anymore. Even though we don't see each other much I must admit its comforting to know you are up there if I need to go up. Oh well.

Ok I definitely wasn't shy! Hope you aren't bored to tears!

I'm glad to hear your update. I've been wondering about you.

We are supposed to move into lodging today. I haven't completely finished painting, packing, or cleaning. Our suitcases are already full, though. We haven't seen our cat since Friday, when the packers were here. We are flying out of here on Sunday, so we may not find him. He's been our cat for 14 years. And, I am spending time checking blogs, rather than getting stuff done.

Love you, Jame. I'll send you our new contact info, when we have it.

Congrats on passing your exam! It sounds like everything is going well.

Ed and I are still in the DC Metro area. We'll be here for at least another 6 months past July 09. I'm keeping busy with Tate. We have Mommy Bootcamp evey Monday and Friday and Tate has swim lessons every Wednesday. So, our weeks are definitely full.

That's about all for now. Keep up with the blog postings! Take care...

Cool that you'll be in the Bellingham area. You get to live in the COOLEST areas. I love it there. I have to come visit you!

Good luck with listing the house. I want to take a nap when I think about your life......

I'm sure it will all come together soon!
