We sure have managed to fit a lot into the past week and a half. Beginning with last Thursday when we drove to Spokane while my dad flew out from Florida.
Friday, as you all know, was graduation, and it was great. It was wonderful to see my dad, Chris and Wilson cheering me on. There is NO WAY I could have completed school without them and their continuous support. (Honestly, I think all four of us graduated last Friday, not just me.) The faculty had a social for us following the ceremony so Chris and my Dad were able to meet some of the key people that have helped mold my professional views and philosophy. I hope to keep connected with the faculty through-out my life’s journey. They are wonderful teachers, researchers, clinicians, colleagues, and friends. After the social we took Chris to the airport (he had training in Portland on Saturday). Then Dad and I (with Wilson and the dogs- of course) decided to drive to Moses Lake, WA to split our six hour drive up a little.
On Saturday we left Moses Lake and had a beautiful drive west. We stopped in Seattle and had an amazing brunch in the Space Needle. It really was beautiful.

Sunday, was Mother’s day, and it was equally as beautiful as Saturday. We drove to a little town called La Connor, WA and had an amazing brunch on the water. The food was amazing. (All except for the oysters, that gave Chris food poisoning). After our brunch we went to the tulip festival in Mt. Vernon, WA. Typically, all the tulips are gone by May, but we lucked out and found one place where some were still in bloom. (April is the “month of season” when thousands of acres are covered with blooming tulips.)I can’t imagine how amazing and wonderful the area is when all the flowers are in bloom because it was remarkable. We are definitely going back next year- in April!
Monday, Chris was sick (damn the Mother’s day brunch) and the rest of the crew was pretty tired so we hung around the local area. Chris slept his food poising off (you know he is sick when he is sleeping on a work day), while Dad, Wilson and I explored Blaine a little.
Tuesday, Dad, Wilson and I headed north to British Columbia. We drove all around BC. This was both on purpose and accident, because I am officially more stubborn than any man and would NOT stop for directions or a map. Our first stop was the Vancouver Aquarium. It was so much fun. Wilson loved it. The Beluga whales were definitely my favorite, but I am not sure what Wilson liked more. It is either “the man cleaning the glass” aka the diver in the shark tank, or the turtles.

After the aquarium we drove around Stanley Park (which is AMAZING) where Wilson had an absolute blast playing in the fire truck and slide.

Wednesday, we picnicked in Birch Bay State Park and drove to Lynden, WA to get some ice cream at Edaleen’s Dairy Farm. (A must do trip for all who come and visit.)

Thursday, Dad flew out from Seattle. Before his flight we headed to Bellingham for Wilson’s 27 month check up. (Really supposed to be 24 month) Wilson is, no surprise, still in the 100th percentile in height and weight and the 50% in his head circumference. He had his second Hep. A shot and took it like a trooper. After the doctor we headed the airport (my Dad is going to be in CO for a few months helping some friends with a B&B/Inn. It is called Dripping Springs Inn and cabins, and you should check it out if you are heading out to CO.) After the airport I decided to take advantage of being in Seattle and met my good friend Victoria for some zoo time and dinner. The Seattle Zoo is a great zoo. We had a ball. We even got to feed a girafee!
Friday, I slept… went for a long walk (where we happened upon a coyote) and went to the grocery. Not too exciting.
Saturday, (yesterday) we went to a lake east of Bellingham called Silver Lake. We let the boys swim their tails off and rented a boat. Chris was the rower, AKA my Viking, and had us around the lake in no time. Wilson really loved being on the water. He is still talking about the boat ride and his life jacket. On the way to church this morning he was saying, “yesterday, mommy, daddy, and Wilson on boat. I wear life jacket. Buck and Jake in the car. We saw eagles. I touched the water with my fingers. It was cold.”
This week should be less eventful. Chris leaves tomorrow for a week in Edmonton so it is just me and the boys. We can’t get in too much trouble with Chris gone. ;)

GEEZ, I am tired just from reading your post! Glad you had a great time, love the pic in the tulip fields! It looks like that area is giving Holland some competition!
Sorry to hear Chris got sick, I always heard of avoiding oysters, mussels and clams during months without an "R". Higher bacteria in the water.... I think...red tide maybe.. not for sure what it is, just always heard that. Maybe its true.
Are you coming back east anytime soon, still for the Ironman?
You HAVE been busy! It all sounds like fun, though, except for the food poisoning part.
Congrats!
Love the space needle and tulip pics!
