the things they say

Wilson: Mom… The mean bugs are in my room again. (The other night he had a bad dream about bugs and I had to shoo them out of his room and put an imaginary bubble over his bed.)

Me: They aren’t really mean, are they? You tell them to be nice or go away.

Wilson: They won’t leave. They are mean.

Me: I will open your door so they can get out. (I open the door and return to the rocking chair where I am nursing Nora.)

Wilson: They didn’t all go mom.

Me: Bugs, you get out of Wilson’s room. I see them leaving now. Stay out mean bugs… Look. The nice bugs are going in now.

Wilson: There are still mean bugs in here. Can you open the door to outside so that they can get out?

Me: Not right now, I am nursing Nora. I will have daddy leave the door open for a little while when he gets home. Okay? Mommy needs to be quiet now because I am trying to get your sister ready for bed. So I can’t talk to you anymore but I will check on you before I go to sleep. Deal?

Wilson: yeah

10 minutes of silence

Wilson: Bugs... I am trying to sleep!

I didn't hear another peep.

That's super cute. And, I liked the way you handled it.
