The only picture I got of us before the camera died.
Wilson and his classmates held a Tea for the mother's and grandmother's last week. He was so excited about the day. He asked to wear his nice shirt ("that looks like Daddy's") and dress pants and told me that he couldn't WAIT to eat dirt with me (they made dirt cake with gummy worms).
When it was time for our momma and son date I waited for him in the pick-up area outside the classroom until his teacher released him to walk out and get me. When he saw me he grinned from ear to ear and asked me if I "would please come with him" and he thanked me for coming. (It was SO adorable.) I told him that I would LOVE to and he escorted me to our table and to our seats. He knew exactly where we were supposed to be.
At our seats were place mats that he had decorated and a cup of dirt cake, with green gummy worms. (Wonder who picked those worms?). He then asked if I would like water or punch and fixed drinks for both of us. Once everyone was seated his teachers asked that the children stand by their moms (or grandmothers). The kids all stood and sang the song Skinna Marinky Dinky Do, with little hand gestures. It was perfect. When he sang he was so proud! His little eyes sparkled like gems. I felt SO loved and so proud.
Here are the lyrics:
Skinna Marinky Dinky Dink
Skinna Marinky Do
I love you
Skinna Marinky Dinky Dink
Skinna Marinky Do
I love you
I love you in the morning
and in the afternoon
I love you in the evening
underneath the moon.....
Skinna Marinky Dinky Dink
Skinna Marinky Do
I love you
We prayed and ate our "dirt" together. Later he gave me the lady bug rock he had made. The Tea was perfect. A first Mother's Day Tea for me. I loved every second. I cried when he sang, cried when he fixed my punch, and cried when he gave me my present, a rock lady bug.
It was a perfect date with my son. I will cherish the memory forever and am so thankful that his teachers took the time to teach my child to show me appreciation.
