Yeah, you read right- I said Lice. One of my students has lice. It wouldn't be too big of a deal except that today I played this activity with a hat. (The kids didn't put it on their heads but they did stick their little arms inside and pass it back and forth.) I turned a Cat in the Hat hat into a mystery hat. I placed various objects inside and had my preschoolers tell me what they felt and we all tried to guess the object. The goal is to enhance their descriptive vocabulary and increase their curiousity. You might say that it isn't a big deal... The kid didn't wear the hat. Well... I understand that. However, the child had her hair in pigtails today and during therapy she kept picking at her hair ties. GREAT!!!
As if picking at her hair wasn't enough, during my follow directions time (Typically, after all my activities with PreK I have them work on following directions. I say things like: the person with the purple shirt needs to stand up- push in their chair- and stand beside the desk, door, etc.) I asked her to stand behind me and I gave her a hug.
Man- I hope I don't get lice. The first thing I did when I got home was strip down, throw all my clothes (including jacket) into the wash, and jump in the shower.
Fingers crossed.

YUCK. I'm sure you'll be fine! What did you do with the hat?
My head is itching just thinking about it.
Oh NO! You poor thing. I'm all of a sudden having flashbacks of the CDC. My head itches too.
Gosh, this head itching thing is seriously as contagious as a yawn! Just reading this is making me wanna scour my head! My fingers are crossed for you! (AND all the other kids...)
The power of suggestion is amazing.
Anyway, noone seems to have picked up the bugs... .yet. They say you should really check 3-4 after exposure. We'll see.
Ok, you have to blog about something else, just to get LICE off. I keep feeling itchy every time I check your blog.
