Good friends of ours daughter, Celia, is dying of a rare autosomal recessive disorder commonly known as Batten Disease.
Typing those words make me weep. Weep for them. Weep for her... Knowing that our friends' dreams for a long, healthy and successful life for their beautiful daughter have been put to rest makes my heart heavy. It just isn't fair!!
However, I can do something... I can pray for them and I do. I pray that they find comfort, strength, and purpose out of this tragedy. I pray that they feel love from others. I pray for Celia. I pray that she is comfortable... and that the Lord will show her how many people love her and how many lives she has effected.
But I can do more. I can contribute a donation in Celia's honor with the Batten Disease Support and Research Association (BDSRA) and I can also ask you to do the same. If you are able, please consider making a donation to the BDSRA. Over the next THREE DAYS BDSRA has issued a $25,000 research challenge and all donations made (up to $25,000) will me MATCHED!! Donating is easy and no amount is too small.
Thank you.

Jamie, you can imagine how helpless we feel -- our only fight against the disease is to raise awareness and hope that funds for research follow. It seems we've told everyone we know so we sure appreciate when people like you encourage awareness. Thank you.
