Wilson's Fine

Sorry to worry any of you. Wilson seemed much better the day after his fussy spell.

I wasn't too worried about him, but decided a doctors visit might not be a bad idea. So yesterday we went to Wilson's pediatrician to double check his ears. I know that antibiotics aren't always necessary and in many cases it is best to treat ear infections with pain medication and numbing drops (if it is mild ear infection) BUT we have had a lot of kids in our clinic recently who have been diagnosed with hearing loss (and language delays) due to undetected and appropriately treated ear infections. So. That is why I went to the doctor.

His ears are perfect. No signs of fluid or irritation. He did have some puss on his throat but the doctor did not feel that it was strep. Just a sore throat. That could explain why he didn't want to eat. I don't know why that drops helped him, but they did none-the-less.

As far a my opinion on Motrin goes. I know for me it is just about all that works and I have heard lots of people say that it is much better for teeth pain. However, I have had (3) three pediatricians discourage me from using it until Wilson reaches the age of two. So, I haven't used it yet. If I am in the situation where Tylenol seems to not work and he is miserable I will use it before he is (2) two... Fingers crossed that I won't need to.

Whew! I am glad he is okay and no ear infection!

I'm curious as to the reason to avoid Motrin before 2....did they tell you?

Same question as Katie. I've never been told to wait on Motrin more than 6 months.

I'm glad he's feeling better. Sick kids are no fun.
