Family Adventures- Disneyland & CA Adventure Park

We had great time!!! On Saturday we went to Disneyland and explored all the different "lands" for toddler fun and on Sunday we did the same at Calinfornia Adventure Park.

Wilson's favorite ride overall was the tram going to and from the parking garage to the parks. But his favorite ride at Disneyland was the jungle boat, which we rode twice.

The animals on the ride looked very real and the cast was pretty funny.

We also enjoyed Mickey's house, Goofy's house, Pooh's ride, the Toy Story ride, and the parade. Wilson loved all the cars and especially loved the roller coaster in Toon Town.
Not a fan of Pluto>>>In fact, he was so excited about the roller coaster that we actually took him on it. Can you believe it? A 19-month old riding a roller coaster. He was tall enough (35" minimum) and handled it like a pro. He looks a little scared in the picture but didn't cry and acted like he wanted to go again when we were done.

There were a lot more people there than expected (it was Gay Pride Day) so the lines were longer on a few rides (A 30 minute wait is my max.) and a couple rides were under construction. So, we didn't get to go on Nemo's submarine or It's a Small World.

Now, let me say, I think Disney World is much better than Disneyland. I don't know if it was because it was our first day at the parks or because it was our first adventure to a park with a small child, but it just wasn't as intuitive as Disney World (DW) is to me. It is smaller than DW but that didn't seem to help it... Maybe I was distracted by all the attractive men... holding hands. (Side note: I recommend getting a Tour Book of Disney when traveling with smaller children. I borrowed my friends and it helped us so much. We were able to see what was appropriate for W and what was not recommended.)

California Adventure. Now, it was a different story. It was awesome. I felt like it had much more for Wilson (preschoolers) to do and it is a newer park so everything was... well, new. The first thing we did was a Jim Henson 3D show with the Muppets. It was really good. Wilson got scared (he doesn't watch TV so it is no surprise that 3D would frightened him) so he had to take his glasses off, but for the most part we think he liked it. We also went to Playhouse Disney Live on Stage which was really fun. We clapped, danced, and sang. Okay, so maybe I was the only one who sang in our family, but there was still singing...

After the Playhouse we went to the Bug's world, which was really neat. I actually felt like I was a bug. Serious. It was like we walked into the movie. We tried another 3D show there (Flick's: It's Not Easy Being a Bug) but had to leave about 5 minutes into it. Wilson couldn't handle it. (A bug tried to terminate the audience by spraying us, and when he "sprayed" us in 3D water actually came out of the ceiling.) It was way past his nap time, and he was pretty scared, so we decided it would be best to leave the show. Don't worry though. We didn't leave on a bad note. After we walked out of the show we explored more of Bug's world before heading back to the hotel for a nap.

Later that day, we rode the carousel, surveyed the roller coaster (it was too big for Wilson to ride, but he loved watching it), watched the parade, explored a pirate ship, and discovered Brother Bear's cave. We ended the day with chocolate goodness. A GIANT CUPCAKE with chocolate fudge icing. Mmmm. It was so good. And so rich! Even though the cupcake was delicious we will never, NEVER, do that again. Because Wilson was so wired by the time we got back to the hotel (after 8pm) that he was actually bouncing off the walls. Bouncing. Off. The. Walls!

**I have more pictures on Chris' camera and video of the bouncing but can't post them until Chris gets back from Guam. That should be a couple weeks from now.

Those are great pictures. I'm surprised that the funny one of Chris didn't end up on here, though. It looks and sounds like you had fun. I would have been worried taking a toddler, but it sounds like Wilson did great. Except for the bouncing off the walls thing, but still. I was thinking more giant meltdowns in line type thing.
